The Greenwood pub recognised as Pub of the Year by local MP
The Greenwood pub in Chelmsley Wood has won the first Pub of the Year competition held by local MP Saqib Bhatti. The MP held his inaugural Meriden’s Pub of the Year competition to highlight the wonderful establishments in the area, shining a light on local pubs to encourage people to visit them.
In handing over the award, Saqib Bhatti MP said, “This award is a testament to your unwavering dedication, outstanding service, and commitment to excellence in providing a memorable experience for your patrons.
Red Oak Taverns acquires four further pubs from Marstons Pub Company
Red Oak Taverns, has begun its 2024 acquisition programme by adding a further four pubs to its portfolio from Marstons Pub Company. The pubs are the Pied Bull, Shepshed, the Prince Albert, Kingswinford, the Queens Arms, Bakewell and the Victoria, Oxford.
Cricketers Inn in Long Parish is Hampshire Pub of the Month
The Cricketers Inn in Long Parish, run by Matt Etherington, has been awarded the Hampshire Pub of the Month by the Hampshire Chronicle. The village pub which is featured in the Good Beer Guide 2024 has log fires and serves cask ales, wood fired pizzas, Sunday roasts and pub classics. It holds game, steak and fish nights and in the summer, visitors can enjoy its sunny beer garden and regular live music.
Red Oak Taverns Refinances Debt With Oaknorth Bank
Red Oak Taverns, the independent pub company, has renewed its relationship and refinanced its debt with OakNorth Bank. OakNorth previously financed the business for six years, ahead of Red Oak moving to Hayfin in March 2022.
BECKETS INN RECOGNISED IN NATIONAL GARDEN AWARDS
The Beckets Inn in Glastonbury has received two garden awards this year in recognition of their outside trading areas at the pub. They were again awarded Glastonbury in Bloom 2023 and also received the RHS south west in Bloom Pub Garden Gold award following a submission by Glastonbury Town Council.
Red Oak Taverns acquires 17 pubs from St Austell Brewery
On Tuesday 31st October, Red Oak Taverns will complete on the purchase of 17 pubs from St Austell Brewery’s leased and tenanted estate. The deal includes sites across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset such as the Rolle Quay (Barnstaple), the White Hart (Launceston) and the Four Lords (Par).
Red Oak Taverns to add two further pubs to estate
Red Oak Taverns has exchanged contracts to purchase two pubs from Everards, The Croft, Wednesbury and The Bulls Head, Clipston, near Market Harborough further growing Red Oaks’ estate. The Croft is an established community pub. The Bulls Head, has been operated by current tenants, Stephen and Helen Foster who will be leaving the pub on completion of the sale.
Red Oak Taverns Tenant Partners celebrate 20 years at their pub
Vicky and Ian Payne celebrated 20 years at their pub, the Prince of Wales in Shrewsbury with a beer festival and family fun weekend over the Spring Bank Holiday. Vicky and Ian who took over the pub in 2003 made sure the locals and their furry friends got to celebrate their time at the pub.

A major investment by Red Oak Taverns has completely transformed the England’s Glory pub in Gloucester. This is the third pub investment by the pub owners in Gloucester who have also invested in The Linden Tree and The Tall Ships.
The Victoria Inn in Perranuthnoe wins national award for serving Best Meat Roast Dinner
The Victoria Inn in Perranuthnoe near Penzance is the winner of the accolade, Knorr Professional British Roast – Meat Roast following a national competition.
The Red Oak pub which is one of the oldest in Cornwall is operated by tenant partner, Elodie Waite. Their winning roast entry was a dish of Sirloin Cornish beef with Yorkshire pudding, buttered kale, honey glazed carrots and parsnips, swede mash, creamed leeks and cauliflower cheese with a rich gravy.
