A major investment by Red Oak Taverns has completely transformed the England’s Glory pub in Gloucester. This is the third pub investment by the pub owners in Gloucester who have also invested in The Linden Tree and The Tall Ships.
England’s Glory has received a full refurbishment with external new lighting, décor and signage and all new furniture, decoration, bar, toilets, function room and revamped skittles alley to the interior. The community pub features large screen TVs throughout, pool table, darts board area and open fire. It has outdoor seating in a courtyard and garden areas. The bar now offers four real ales and six draught local ciders.
Speaking about the new look pub, business development manager for Red Oak Taverns, Jo Skuse said, “This is the third pub investment we’ve completed in Gloucester and it’s a fantastic transformation. The whole place looks fresh, whilst retaining a historic nod to the area and its name England’s Glory after the famous matches that were manufactured here. We know now that this pub has something for everyone and will serve the local community for a long time into the future”.
New pub tenants Cat Daniels and Bob Bell took on the pub in November 2022. Cat said, “The new look is wonderful. The pub has a new chapter ahead of it and we are so excited to be welcoming back customers old and new. Red Oak has really pulled out all the stops with this investment to create a proper local pub for the community”.
Cat and Bob will be launching a traditional pub food menu in June and are holding music nights every Saturday. There is a quiz, twice weekly and regular bingo nights. Seven skittles teams play from the pub alongside darts and pool teams.
Adding Bob said, “We want to ensure there’s plenty of community activities and events at the pub. Alongside the food we will be opening the outside bar for the garden and courtyard and have our first wedding at the pub this month”.
