The Yellow Wagtail pub in Yeovil has just reopened following a major refurbishment by pub owners, Red Oak Taverns. The community pub has been redecorated throughout creating a fresh, modern interior featuring new furniture, flooring and lighting.

The new look pub is operated by local couple Adam and Tamzin Mitchell, who took it over in July last year. Speaking about the pub, Adam said, “This is our first pub and having been a regular here for nearly 20 years, I knew what it could become. The transformation together with the events and entertainment has helped create a venue where everyone is welcome”.

Adam and Tamzin have introduced Sky and BT sports, live music and quizzes at the pub and they encourage lots of pub sports including skittles in the new alley, darts and pool. Adding Adam said, “With two skittle alleys and five darts boards we’ve got great facilities for local teams to use, with the area doubling as a function room for events. Red Oak Taverns understood what was important to this community pub and enabled us to retain and enhance the amenities through the investment”.

The investment retained much of the memorabilia in the pub which features customers past and present and references to the local Augusta Westland helicopter factory. The refreshed bar now includes a large beer and cider range including real ale, new wines by the glass and an extensive gin, spirits and soft drinks range.

Jo Skuse, business development manager for Red Oak Taverns said, “The Yellow Wagtail is a real community pub and having Adam and Tamzin who are from the local area at its helm is fantastic. They have created a warm and welcoming place that everyone can enjoy”.
