Latest acquisition by Red Oak Taverns is the Crown in Bredbury

Red Oak Taverns has acquired the Crown, Bredbury near Stockport directly from owners, Olwen and Peter Davies who are retiring. The current long-term manager at the pub, Lisa Wejs will continue to run the pub as the new tenant partner with Red Oak.

The Crown is a proper community pub and very popular with Manchester City fans. Speaking about their most recent acquisition, property and acquisitions director for Red Oak Taverns, Graeme Bunn said, “This is our latest single site acquisition and it fits perfectly within our pub estate.  We are really pleased that Lisa is taking the tenancy ensuring continuity for this successful and well-liked community pub”

Bird In Hand named CAMRA Warwickshire Pub of the Year

The Bird in Hand pub in Austrey has just been named the Warwickshire Pub of the Year 2023 by Lichfield, Sutton and Tamworth Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) branch. The recognition comes after 14 years of hard work making sure the pub’s real ales and beers are always served perfectly by pub landlord Gareth Griffiths and his team.

Thomas Wolsey taken over by award winning tenant

Red Oak Taverns has purchased the freehold of the Thomas Wolsey pub in Ipswich and new pub operator, Damon Jeffery is taking over as the tenant. Damon who previously ran the award-winning Freston Boot and large pubs in London wants to make the Thomas Wolsey pub a real community pub with craft lagers, real ales and a new gin menu.

Yellow Wagtail reopens following investment

The Yellow Wagtail pub in Yeovil has just reopened following a major refurbishment by pub owners, Red Oak Taverns. The community pub has been redecorated throughout creating a fresh, modern interior featuring new furniture, flooring and lighting. 

The new look pub is operated by local couple Adam and Tamzin Mitchell, who took it over in July last year. Speaking about the pub, Adam said, “This is our first pub and having been a regular here for nearly 20 years, I knew what it could become. The transformation together with the events and entertainment has helped create a venue where everyone is welcome”.

Three Brewers runner up in Pub of the Year

Multiple pub operators Kirsten and Nathan Cortilla have opened their third pub together, the Three Brewers in Corsham, their first in partnership with Red Oak Taverns. With Red Oak, the couple have transformed the pub and were runner up in the finals for Pub of the Year award at this year’s Wiltshire Life award. Nathan and Kirsten also run the Flemish Weaver in Corsham and the White Hart in Atworth.

Red Oak acquires pub from McMullen’s

Red Oak Taverns has completed a further pub acquisition, The Crown in Romeland, Waltham Abbey from brewer, McMullen’s. This is the fourth single site acquisition this year for Red Oak.

Speaking about the acquisition, property director for Red Oak Taverns, Graeme Bunn said, “The Crown is located in the centre of Waltham Abbey and is a traditional pub serving the local community. We are delighted that McMullen’s chose to work with us in selling one of their assets”.

Red Oak Taverns has acquired the Six Bells pub in Madeley near Telford, their third acquisition this year.

RED OAK TAVERNS TO PURCHASE ICONIC IPSWICH PUB

Red Oak Taverns has exchanged contracts to purchase the freehold of the Thomas Wolsey pub in Ipswich. The town centre pub, located in St Peter’s Street is named after the town’s famous 16th century statesman and Catholic bishop Thomas Wolsey and dates back to the 17th century. The pub acquisition will be the second so far for Red Oak in 2023.
