RED OAK TAVERNS TO PURCHASE ICONIC IPSWICH PUB

Red Oak Taverns has exchanged contracts to purchase the freehold of the Thomas Wolsey pub in Ipswich. The town centre pub, located in St Peter’s Street is named after the town’s famous 16th century statesman and Catholic bishop Thomas Wolsey and dates back to the 17th century. The pub acquisition will be the second so far for Red Oak in 2023.

General Elliott has new lease of life

The General Elliott in Croft near Warrington has received a complete makeover both inside and out following a joint investment by pub owners Red Oak Taverns and new landlord Henry Coakley. 

This historic pub that dates back to the 1700’s has been completely redecorated and features new furniture, bar layout and flooring. The exterior has new signage and lighting, the garden area offers heated apres ski style tipees. In addition, the Heathfield function room will be reopening for private dining, parties and business events and new bifold doors out to the garden will be added in the spring.

RED OAK TAVERNS COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF HAMPSHIRE PUB

Red Oak Taverns has completed the acquisition of the Temple Inn in Liss Forest, Hampshire increasing their pub estate to 206 freehold leased and tenanted pubs.

Speaking about the purchase, property & acquisitions director for Red Oak Taverns, Graeme Bunn said, “We are delighted to have added this quality asset to our estate which complements the pubs we have acquired in Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex over the last 18 months.  We have partnered with an exceptional local operator to take over the running of the pub tenancy and who will be introducing an exciting new food menu within the coming days”.

The pub which is run by Matt Downing has been redecorated inside and out and includes a refurbished bar and new staging and sound system for its live music events. The interior’s furniture, flooring and toilets have all been upgraded and music memorabilia is featured throughout the venue.
